Honest Sessions: a small group of people in the middle of a change

A recurring gathering in San Francisco, around a shared table, where the conversation skips the small talk and gets to the thing you are actually working through.

Who it's for

People standing at a crossroads

You are somewhere between what you were doing and what comes next, and you have not said much about it out loud. Maybe the work stopped fitting. Maybe nothing is wrong and something still needs to change. I built this room for that stretch, because it is a lonely one to walk through by yourself, and it does not have to be.

Mid-transition

Between roles, between careers, or between two versions of your life, and still deciding which way to lean.

Dense bamboo stems with no clear view through

Quietly stuck

The days go fine and something underneath has gone flat. You keep circling the same thought without moving.

Sensing a change

Nothing has happened yet. You can feel it coming and you want to meet it awake rather than by surprise.

Expect a lot of designers and creative leaders in the room. That is the world I came from and the people I coach most, so it is who tends to hear about this first. It is not a requirement, and the questions we sit with are not about craft. If design is your world, I also work with people one on one.

What to expect

A real conversation, held on purpose

This is not a networking event and it is not a workshop. I host it the way I coach: I ask better questions than the ones you have been asking yourself, and then I get out of the way.

01

A small group

Small enough that everyone speaks and nobody performs. One table, one conversation, no breakout rooms.

02

Structured, not scripted

I bring the questions and keep the time honest, so the time goes somewhere instead of drifting into shop talk.

03

Around a table

Morning coffee, a simple lunch, or an early dinner. It changes session to session, and it always runs about two hours in San Francisco.

Tickets will be low cost, five dollars or less. It is not about the money. It is there so the people who say yes actually show up, and nobody does their best thinking at a table of empty chairs.

Save me a seat

No date and no city block picked yet. I am finding out who wants to be in the room first, and building the first session around the people who raise a hand.
